Graduate Student Lounge
Kick off the first day of Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation week by visiting the Graduate Student Lounge on the fifth floor of the William Pitt Union any time after 10 a.m.! The first 25 students to arrive receive either a Graduate Studies steel insulated water bottle or grocery bag. Enjoy a few snacks courtesy of the Graduate Studies team! While supplies last.
Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition
11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Hillman Library
Have some free time during lunch? Join us from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Hillman Library for the 3MT Competition. The 3MT Competition challenges PhD and SJD students to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience. Audience members can vote in the people’s choice award, learn communication skills from winning 3MT presentations, and enjoy snacks. Additional details provided via the Pitt 3MT webpage.
The Pitt 3MT is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, University of Pittsburgh Library System, and the University Center for Teaching and Learning.

- Janet McLaughlin and Joel Philistin, from the Center for Financial Education and Wellness, will share resources to equip students with the personal finance skills to navigate financial decisions for graduate school and beyond. Items of interest include budgeting, savings, investing and student loan borrowing and repayment.
- Chat about professional development, first-generational students, and fellowship opportunities with Treviene Harris, Meghan Culpepper, and Stephanie Hoogendoorn from the Graduate Studies team.

The Office of the Provost - Graduate Studies is always looking for ways to improve the experiences of our graduate and professional students. If you have about 30 minutes, stop by the Graduate Studies office on the nineteenth floor of the Cathedral of Learning to take the Graduate Student Experience in the Research University (gradSERU) survey and enjoy a Chipotle lunch on us. GradSERU is mobile-friendly.
Additionally, the Office of the Provost will randomly choose one participant per week to receive Apple AirPods until June 9.
